SKODA Scoop more awards.
ŠKODA’s television advert and promotional campaign for the launch of the Octavia vRS has been awarded Best Manufacturer Marketing Initiative in the 2014 Car Dealer Power awards.
The campaign, which hit screens in July 2013, featured everyday items that had been given the vRS treatment. Under the tag-line ‘Not your average family car’ the advert featured a giant pram, outsized lawnmower and a monster ice-cream truck. All were created to highlight the remarkable performance of the new Octavia vRS – the fastest production ŠKODA ever.
The 21ft high ice-cream truck proved so popular with viewers that ŠKODA toured the country with it, serving free ice-cream as part of its Octavia vRS launch activities.
The award was voted for by readers of Car Dealer magazine. Editor James Batchelor said: “ŠKODA’s vRS advert won the hearts of our readers. Featuring souped-up imagery and a fully-working supersized ice-cream van, the advert beautifully captured the featured product’s raison d’etre.”
Keith Palmer, Head of Marketing at Derek Slack Motors added: “The vRS campaign was a huge success. SKODA wanted an advert that would bring to life the powerful performance of the car, and the specially made props gave a tongue-in-cheek taste of what you could experience if you gave your life some vRS treatment.” Plus it was great having some of the actual props in our showroom during the launch.
The 60-second television advert was created by British-based agency Fallon and can be seen here.
